Doss Trento is a first-rate tourist attraction in the city of Trento. It is a curious cylindrical-shaped elevation made up of limestone and marly rocks deposited during the middle-lower o'eneon (between 40 and 34 million years ago), which come to light along its sides. On it is present the thermophilous broadleaf vegetation that botanists refer to as the Orno-ostrieto, of which it is indeed the 'locus classicus' (''classic stand''). On the other hand, the ledges are home to patches of arid grasslands, steppe-like on the slopes facing north and sub-Mediterranean on those facing south. There are also several rare plant species present on the elevation. Among them, at least the Opuntia vulgaris, a relative of the prickly pear, the extremely rare Ephedra distachya and the Fritillaria tenella with its characteristic 'chequered' flowers are worth mentioning. The fauna is also quite rich in species despite its close proximity to the urban fabric.
