From dusk till dawn, searching for emotions

Sunrise or sunset surrounded by the Dolomites: here are 5 experiences that will make your heart beat faster

Can you think of anything more moving or romantic than a sunset over the mountains? Or anything more relaxing and reinvigorating than the first light of dawn across a dew-soaked meadow?

In Trentino, dusk takes on a pink hue as the low sunrays bid goodnight to the Dolomites and the mountain air is fresh and crisp. Sunrise on the other hand is accompanied by the lazy clanging of cow bells as the herdsmen take off at first light.

We, like you, also adore sunrises and sunsets. This is why we have selected five experiences that will make these moments even more special. Ready to be inspired?

#1

TraMonti

The sunset engulfs the sky with its melancholy colours, you’re sitting in a meadow, in the hearth of the Comano ValleSalus, listening to musicians playing near the ruins of an old castle or in the shade of a farmhouse. You have a glass of wine in your hand and a loved one by your side. What more could you ask for?

#2

Sunset on the mountain pastures

Did it ever occur to you that the sunset you see today is the same as that enjoyed by your grandparents? Across the mountains of the Val di Sole, this idea is brought to life by the tales of the herdsmen that, every Thursday during the summer months, welcome you to their mountain farmsteads.

#3

Dawn at a mountain farmhouse

As the first light creeps over the mountains to the East, you’re feeling a bit tired but the fresh morning air gives you a boost of energy. During the events of Albe in Malga, you accompany the farmer on his rounds, helping him with the milking and cheese-making, before sitting down to a genuine breakfast. An experience suitable for the whole family, from June to September.

#4

Sounds of the Dolomites at dawn

Stories of slaves and freedmen woven with echoes of distant worlds. A special event at sunrise on 14th July, when the music of Maria Pia De Vito and the Burnogualà Ensemble will bring corners of Africa, Naples and the Mediterranean to the foot of the Dolomites.

A tasty intermezzo

And if, between a dawn and a dusk on the Dolomites, you get hungry? All that’s left to do is spread your blanket in the Val di Fiemme and ask for your Cheesenic, a flavourful packed lunch with local cheeses and products. You can find it in restaurants, holiday farms, farmsteads and mountain huts along the Strada dei Formaggi delle Dolomiti [Dolomite Cheese Route].
