Autumn brings the best events to Trentino
From sport festival to music and dance galas. Discover all the events
Summer may officially be over in September but the season of festivals continues in grand style throughout autumn. Trentino pledges to entertain with great events even at the end of summer, starting with Festival of Classical Music and the Oriente-Occidente festival, an internationally acclaimed event dedicated to contemporary dance.
The world of sport, in particular, buzzes with anticipation. From the 11th to the 14th October, Trento will host the very first edition of Festival dello Sport featuring camps, workshops, talks & interviews with sport champions of past and present. Finally, if you are a fan of the big screen, Rovereto and Trento will stage two festivals with focus on archaeology, food and sustainability. Discover all the details in our article!
Ala, the city of music, 28 June-31 August
Coming to its third edition, the Classical Music Festival sees artists from all over the world gathering around Ala’s squares, courtyards and baroque palaces, only a few kilometres from Lake Garda. On the programme: workshops, musicians’ talks and a fantastic array of concerts.
Festival Oriente Occidente - Rovereto, 29 August-8 September
It was first presented in 1981, today it’s of the most acclaimed festivals of contemporary dance and dance-theatre in Europe, showcasing renowned international artists. This year’s leitmotiv is “The New Silk Route” as a meeting point between different cultures, united in their passion for dancing.
The Mozart Week, Rovereto, 14-22 September
Five days of sheer joy for lovers of international classical music. The festival, which also includes conventions, shows and guided tours, embraces several cities but revolves mostly around Rovereto, a city which had the luck of experiencing Mozart, the child prodigy, play in the church of San Marco in the winter of 1769.
Festival del cinema archeologico - Rovereto, 2-6 October
Cinema and archaeological research are at the heart of this festival that shines the spotlight on history, culture and world heritage conservation. Archaeology is unearthed from niche museums and presented on stage to a wider audience through films, talks and debating.
Sports Festival, Trento, 10-13 October
Following the success of the first edition, the “Festival dello Sport” returns to Trento along with renowned sports personalities from Italy and across the world. Meetings, debates and stories of sport to be enjoyed and, of course, plenty of sport to be tried across the piazzas of the city. The theme of the 2019 edition is “The phenomenon, the phenomena”.
