Your feet deserve a bit of freedom! Leave your shoes at home and take a barefoot walk through the woods, feel the soft grass, rough tree bark and smooth stone underfoot and then maybe dip them in the invigorating waters of a mountain stream. All you need to do is go to Val di Fassa, in the heart of the Dolomites.
Remaining in the Dolomites and moving over to the Val di Fiemme, remember to grab your poles before setting out for a walk. Nordic walking is a relaxing yet healthy activity, which involves 90% of your muscles and is beneficial both to your circulation and back.
The Japanese call it “Shinrin-yoku” (Bath in the Forest). It means submerging yourself in the forest and walking slowly for hours or until you feel reinvigorated, both physically and spiritually. A yoga session in a forest of fir and larch in the Stelvio National Park is also beneficial to the lungs and fills the heart with emotion.
