A breath of fresh air

Why can’t a mountainside be a concert hall or an art gallery, too?

In Trentino, art has come out into the open.

Inspired by our breathtaking mountain scenery, artists of every hue are engaging with the great outdoors – and you can discover their work through events, exhibition tours, and concerts. Add a busy programme of festivals to the mix, and you can see why Trentino has become such a compelling venue for art lovers.

The Sounds of the Dolomites in Val di Fiemme

Sounds of the Dolomites

Trentino’s ground-breaking summer festival takes music to the mountains, and stages concerts and recitals in forests and on Alpine pastures. There are no restrictions on genre – you’ll hear everything from classical to world music, and choirs to singer-songwriters.

Arte Sella

Along a forest track in the Val di Sella lies the rare and beautiful Arte Sella sculpture park. The works are all site-specific, and the best seem to have been distilled from the shapes, colours and textures of their settings. They’re as rooted in the landscape as the trees around them.

RespirArt Pampeago

One of Europe’s highest sculpture parks, RespirArt examines not just the relationship between art and nature, but art and time. The guiding principle is one of “letting masterpieces go”, and each work has been made with its own slow disintegration in mind.

Il respiro degli alberi

A permanent theme-based exhibition of contemporary art in the woods of the town of Lavarone. Every year in mid-August, new artworks are added to it, in what becomes a true art event in the open air. Each sculpture is a discrete reflection in harmony with the landscape of which it is a part and by which it will be reabsorbed over time.
