Weather permitting, the first lifts in the Grostè area will open on 22 November. Meanwhile, Val di Fassa will debut Italy’s most advanced three-cable gondola lift this December.

Two World-Class Ski Areas

Trentino is home to two ski areas: Dolomiti Superski and Skirama Dolomiti – Adamello Brenta, offering one of the most advanced and comprehensive ski experiences in the entire Alpine region.

Celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2024, Dolomiti Superski remains the world’s largest ski carousel, a true paradise for winter sports enthusiasts spanning twelve ski areas across Trentino, South Tyrol and Veneto. Ideal for families and winter sports enthusiasts alike, it offers remarkable variety and accessibility.

Dolomiti Superski

With a single ski pass, available both on site and online, visitors gain access to 350 lifts and 1,200km of slopes, 350km of which lie within Trentino (Val di Fassa, Val di Fiemme and San Martino di Castrozza-Passo Rolle). Reliable snow conditions are guaranteed from December through April.

Skirama Dolomiti–Adamello Brenta

Boasting nearly 400 kilometers of slopes and 150 ski lifts, Skirama Dolomiti–Adamello Brenta is internationally renowned and one of the leading ski areas south of the Alps. A single ski pass, also available online, links together Trentino’s western resorts: Madonna di Campiglio, Pinzolo, Folgarida-Marilleva, Peio, Passo del Tonale, Andalo-Fai della Paganella, Monte Bondone and Folgaria-Lavarone-Luserna.

Set amidst the Adamello-Presanella, Ortles-Cevedale and Brenta Dolomites, the area offers high-altitude skiing up to 3,000 metres, ensuring excellent conditions from November into spring.

Dolomiti Superski: What’s New This Winter?

Val di Fassa

A major addition this season is the new 3S gondola lift connecting Campitello di Fassa with Col Rodella - the most modern of its kind in Italy. Featuring 18 cabins with automatic grips and a total capacity of 2,177 passengers per hour, the new 3-cable gondola replaces the old 120-seat system, eliminating queues and cutting journey time to just under six minutes.

Further improvements in the Belvedere, San Pellegrino and Carezza ski areas will reduce waiting times across the ski tours beyond the Sellaronda.

Val Di Fiemme – Obereggen

At Pampeago, a new 10-seat Latemar gondola built by Doppelmayr replaces the historic four-seat chairlift, running since 1988.  It boasts a capacity of 2,700 people per hour, ascending 255 meters in just four minutes and offering faster, more comfortable access to the slopes.

In Bellamonte-Alpe Lusia, a new 200-space car park with a dedicated drop-off area improves accessibility, while the Fraina sledding slope has been upgraded for enhanced safety.

Cross-country enthusiasts at Passo Oclini will benefit from new programmable snowmaking systems, ensuring consistent, sustainable snow quality throughout the season.

At Alpe Cermis, the historic Paiòn mountain hut has been fully renovated, blending tradition with contemporary alpine design and offers panoramic views of the Dolomites.

San Martino Di Castrozza – Passo Rolle

In October construction began on a new cable car connection between San Martino di Castrozza and Passo Rolle. This long-awaited public investment is expected to revitalise the entire region. All lifts here are powered by local hydroelectric energy, and snow groomers now use GPS systems to optimise energy consumption.

Madonna Di Campiglio: The Ideal Number project
Madonna di Campiglio becomes the first Italian ski destination to optimise skier flow based on a scientifically defined ‘Ideal Number’ of daily visitors, prioritising the quality of skiing experience.

During peak periods (28 December - 5 January 2026, 15-22 February 2026), only a limited number of daily passes will be sold online until the Ideal Number is reached.

New ‘Smart’ passes will also help skiers avoid the most crowded areas across the 150km of the Madonna di Campiglio ski area (including Folgarida, Marilleva and Pinzolo).

Restrictions apply only to daily passes; seasonal, multi-day (starting from two days) pay-per-use cards and internal passes for Pinzolo and Folgarida Marilleva remain unaffected. Non-skiers will be able to freely access pedestrian lifts. Visitors are encouraged to purchase daily ski passes in advance to secure access.

Other innovations include:

Re-Groomed Slopes: The Vagliana run in Grosté area will be freshly groomed at midday for pristine afternoon skiing, reopening at 1.00pm.
Ski Early: Between 18 December and 5 January 2026 and 14–22 February 2026, selected lifts will open earlier from 7:30-8:00am, weather permitting.
Lift Upgrade: The historic Nube d’Argento two-seat chairlift is being replaced with a heated 10-seat gondola, offering full accessibility for families, people with disabilities, and even pets.

Sustainability remains central to Trentino’s ski innovations. Madonna di Campiglio’s lift company is installing photovoltaic panels, sourcing renewable electricity, adopting biofuel (HVO) for its vehicles and introducing a hybrid snow groomer to reduce fuel consumption, emissions and noise.

Pinzolo

At the arrival station of the Prà Rodont-Doss del Sabion gondola, visitors will find a new panoramic room with immersive projections tracing the history of the universe from the Big Bang to the present day. The nearby ‘Island of Contemplation’ features art installations harmoniously integrated into the alpine setting.

Funivie Pinzolo, Italy’s first ISO 14001-certified ski company for environmental management,  is reinventing the tourist experience with a sustainable and cultural approach to mountain life like never before.

Alpe Cimbra

A significant development is the new 10-seat Francolini-Sommo Alto gondola by Leitner, a €15 million public-private investment replacing the old chairlift. It enhances accessibility for families and visitors with disabilities while also improving connections to summer mountain bike trails.

Paganella

Paganella introduces a new fixed-grip four-seat chairlift by Doppelmayr serving the Meriz blue slope and the sledding track with a capacity of 2,000 people per hour.
