What are four saxophones and a drum kit doing in a Prokofiev fairy tale? The answer lies in the groove. Peter and the Wolf returns to the stage and doubles up, reflected in a musical mirror: on one side, the classic version; on the other, its dancing shadow, free and irreverent, in a jazz key. Between notes that tell a story and words that sound like music, the music does not merely accompany: it becomes a character, an emotion, a heartbeat. The wolf howls on the baritone saxophone, the bird whistles on the soprano, the grandfather mumbles on the low winds, and the narrator - with perfect timing - leads the game. Six voices, a single score in constant motion, where improvisation is the rule and surprise is the melody. Giving shape to this original reinterpretation is the Modern Saxophone Quartet, a group of four saxophonists who have been playing together for years, exploring all the expressive potential of the saxophone. Active in the classical repertoire of the 20th century as well as in experimental and crossover fields, the musicians of the quartet move with ease between writing and improvisation, combining rigour and creativity. A musical fairy tale for children and adults, to be listened to with your eyes closed and your ears wide open. Because in this version, Peter and the Wolf is not just a story: it is a concert that walks on tiptoes and then... slips away.
