Living Nativity Scene
The centre of Vigo comes alive with scenes from Bethlehem 2000 years ago, featuring characters from the nativity scene
The living nativity scene organised by the Vigo Events Committee, with the collaboration and enthusiasm of a group of volunteers from the village, combines tradition and faith. At dusk, the streets of the town centre (Piaz J.B Massar, Strada de Solar, Strada Rezia) are transformed into a real open-air theatre: the wooden hut under the large decorated tree, the fire lit, Mary and Joseph next to the Baby Jesus, the donkey and the ox, the farmers and shepherds with their sheep.
A simple and intense scene that evokes the Nativity in Bethlehem of yesteryear and brings to life the atmosphere of the Christmas markets, open until 5 January.
The magic continues even beyond the performance: you can follow the route of the nativity scenes set up on the fountains of the village and the hamlets of Vigo, an evocative itinerary that becomes even more special at sunset.
