Turn-by-turn directions
The trail is divided into two sections, the first goes from Torbole to Dro, and is 11 Km long, while the second goes from Pietramurata to Sarche, and is 4 Km long. The route - which is well-marked - runs along the right hand side bank of the Sarca river.
The track is paved and has no particularly challenging climbs or hills. Thanks to the influence of Lake Garda, which softens the climate, the track is enjoyable for many months throughout the year.
Among the many points of interest along the route, it is definitely worth visiting the beautiful city of Arco. Its position is scenic: it is, in fact, located at the feet of the Rupe (cliff), where you can find the ruins of the castle of the same name. There are many other elegant examples of architecture around, such as the former Villa Arciducale, with its park, home to the prestigious Arboretum.
After about 4 Km you reach the town of Ceniga (it is worth visiting the recently restored Roman bridge over the Sarca river). The route now follows the municipal road with mixed traffic, which leads from Ceniga to Dro, a small village surrounded by vineyards and fruit orchards.
In the northern outskirts of Dro, you take the protected cycling/walking path for about 850 m, to reach the municipal road that leads to the former hydroelectric plant in Fies (13.3 Km), where the Drodesera avant-garde shows are held in summer.
You then continue along quiet country roads, until you reach the small hamlet of Pietramurata, where you enter the Sarca alluvial plain, densely cultivated with vineyards and renowned for its “Vino Santo”: vineyards and fruit orchards alternate until you reach the town of Sarche, where the protected cycling path ends.
