Author’s recommendation
The mountain hut is a stop-over point along the “Cascate Alte” [High Waterfalls] ring route - a superb route that winds its way through the several wonderful waterfalls of Vallesinella. If you are attracted to this route, all you have to do is go for it.

Turn-by-turn directions
The route begins in Vallesinella, where the beautiful Rifugio Vallesinella is located. It was refurbished in 2015, following the architectural style which brilliantly combined the traditional view with modern taste.
From the parking lot, take the trail marked 317, with signs for “Rifugio Casinei”. You cross a picturesque wooden bridge which makes it possible to pass over the “Sarca di Vallesinella”, one of the tributaries of the Sarca river. The trail heads into the woods and begins to climb. Steep sections are facilitated by the presence of steps, which make it easier to climb up and, above all, to get down again. A brief winding section leads to the final part of the trail - much flatter - which leads to the mountain hut and its beautiful clearing.
You return along the same route.
Variation “Anello delle Cascate – Sentiero delle Sorgenti”
From rifugio Vallesinella, the picturesque Sentiero delle Sorgenti begins. It is a well-marked trail with signs and useful informative panels. You follow a first section of the forest road and travel through the vicinity of the rifugio Casinei cableway.
Beyond the cableway, the actual trail begins, climbing stairs, slopes, and bridges (be careful not to slip in wet conditions). You climb a zigzagging path among the waterfalls belonging to the Cascate Alte di Vallesinella, and you reach the beautiful hollow of Malga Vallesinella di Sopra, at an elevation of 1680 m. You can now turn right and, with a beautiful crossing on a slight uphill slope (trail 317b), you reach rifugio Casinei, the destination of the walk. From here, you go back down to Vallesinella following the direct path, trail number 317.
Getting there
Madonna di Campiglio via road SS239 della Val Rendena (coming from the Giudicarie and from Val di Sole). Entering the town from the south (below the tunnel), follow the signs on the right for Vallesinella. At the circle, turn right again towards Vallesinella - Loc. Palù. The road to the mountain hut is managed by the Parco Adamello-Brenta authorities, who manage access (open before 07:30).
Parking
Ample parking in Vallesinella. N.B.: the road and parking lot are managed by Parco Adamello Brenta.
