On the road to Bethlehem
From the beginning of December to the beginning of January the village of Varena turns into a little Bethlehem with it's large nativity scene illuminated in the evening.
This wonderful path presents ninety one-meter-tall characters and about one hundred animals. Baby Jesus' hut is surrounded by a little crib with an inn, a farm, the baker's and some artisans's shops. "Bethlehem Road” evokes ancient professions like the sheeps shearing, the spinning of wool, the collecting of wood, the threshing. When the sun goes down, 200 spotlights will illuminate the Nativity giving it an enchanted atmosphere. This huge crib will be installed on the meadow covered by snow along via Alpini and it is 2500 square meters large.
