The Rifugio Fazzon is in Val Fazzon, a side valley of the Val di Sole, in a place well away from the ski lifts. It’s where keen walkers and families come to admire the waters of Lago dei Caprioli (the ‘deer lake’), just above the refuge. Walking up from Pellizzano, children will delight in following the Sentiero degli Gnomi (Path of the Gnomes), which leads to the lake, while in Fazzon a visit to the nursery is a must, as it’s where edelweiss are organically cultivated: legend has it these flowers fell from the sky during the night of the feast of San Lorenzo.
Open
From mid-June to late September
Before leaving for your hike, always contact the manager to verify the actual opening of the mountain hut
Walks
Lago dei Caprioli is a few minutes walk from the refuge, and from there many easy walks can be done. It’s a 2-hour walk to the little Malghetto Mezzana lakes (difficulty E). More demanding is the walk to Madonna di Campiglio via Passo di Valgelada and the Nambino basin, passing the Artuich bivouac (5 hours, difficulty E).
