Col Rodella, one of the most scenic spots in the entire Fassa valley, is the where you’ll find the Rifugio Des Alpes: a prime location from which to admire the most famous Dolomitic massifs, from Sassolungo to the Marmolada via the Sella Group. In winter the refuge is a focal point for the many skiers who flock to the Sella Ronda pistes, with music and entertainment in the bar improvised on the terrace. In summer, many paragliders as well as walkers make their way to the refuge, which seems to be taking flight from its position on this col overlooking the valley. Open From mid-June to mid-October From early December to mid-April Before leaving for your hike, always contact the manager to verify the actual opening of the mountain hut Walks The Rifugio Des Alpes is a good base for all the walks around Sassolungo, including the complete tour (5 hours, difficulty E) starting from the Rifugio Sassopiatto (2 hours, difficulty E). The walk to Rifugio Vicenza via Forcella Sassolungo (which can also be reached by cable car) takes 2 ½ hours (difficulty E). The Rifugio Micheluzzi in Val Duron is a walk of 3 ½ hours (difficulty E).
