Sledge & Toboggans

Altogether now: “Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeee”

Because sometimes all you want to do is go whizzing down a slope, laughing helplessly

Any parent will tell you that in their early days on the snow, children love tobogganing at least as much as skiing. They’ll also tell you how much fun it is to jump on board themselves. So it’s good to know Trentino is littered with tobogganing and tubing runs. They’re the perfect way to round off a day on the slopes.

Val di Fiemme

You’re never far from a tubing or tobogganing slope in the Val di Fiemme. At Laner-Obereggen, you can speed down a 2.5km lift-serviced trail that’s floodlit on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday nights and try the new 750m long ride. Meanwhile, Bellamonte has the lift-serviced 1.9km Fraina run. And above Predazzo you’ll find our first ever Alpine Coaster – a rail-mounted sledge-on-wheels, that roars down a spectacular woodland course. A hand-operated brake can keep things slow and steady, if you want: or you can release it, and reach an eye-popping 40km/h.

Val di Fassa

Neighbouring Val di Fassa is another tobogganing and tubing hot-spot. Here, child-friendly snow parks jostle with longer, faster toboggan rides, and in the Val Monzoni and Val San Nicolò, where you can sledge by moonlight. Tobogganing, sledging and snow-tubing are also on offer in Canazei, where the Avisio ski lift will whisk you to the top of the runs – and you can ride here after dark, too.

Alpe Cimbra

Finally, in the Alpe Cimbra, both Folgaria and Lavarone have taken tobogganing to a new level, with an integrated sledge-lift rather like a drag-lift for skiers. You hook on at the bottom, unhook at the top, and whizz down your run without ever having to stand up from your sledge. Could tobogganing ever get more luxurious?
