Val Daone Ice-climbing Routes
The Crystal Walls are one of the most renowned attractions of the valley. These ice waterfalls get shaped on the valley's countless rivers and torrents when winter freezes the landscape. They have been discovered by climbing-enthusiasts in the mid-80s, although their true value was fully revealed only during an international meeting held in 1989. The Valle di Daone is very rich in water and has become a small Canada for ice-climbers. One hundred and thirty waterfalls have been counted so far. They are a true nature sight in the summer, while in winter they become the ideal venue to enjoy ice-climbing.
Val di Daone is the Southern gateway to the Adamello-Brenta Nature Park, the largest nature reserve area in the Trentino region. Val di Fumo is entirely part of the Park. The Park's Visitor Information Centre is located in Daone, together with its highly special natural and multimedia museum - unique in its kind in Trentino - which is housed on the third floor of the Town Hall.
