On the Pinè Highland from Miola to Malga Stramaiolo
In its characteristic mid-mountain setting, on the Piné Highland numerous routes offer the chance to cross the woods and pastures
The starting point is the Ice Stadium at Miola di Pinè, the temple of speed skating. Take the direction towards Fovi, the first section is all uphill, heading on then towards Cima Costalta when the asphalt surface ends. After about 1,600 m. branch off to the right leaving the signs for the Sorgente Ferrugginosa and continue for about another 1,500 m. (total of 2.9 km from departure point). At a metal (anti-traffic) barrier along the way you take the turning to the left and tackle the steepest part of the route and continue straight on as far as Piazzola at an altitude of 1,480 m. (3.9 km). From here on the rise is less demanding until the end of the forest road (5.5 km). Dismount to cover a short section of steep path which connects to another forest path to be followed until you meet the provincial road which goes up to Passo Redebus (8.3 km).
Turning to the right you continue for around 100 m and then take another forest path and follow the signs towards Malga Stramaiolo: the section runs consistently uphill but is easily pedalable and you reach the Malga at an altitude of 11670 m. (13 km); in summer the Malga is used for summer pasturing and as an agritur. The route back follows the same course.
