Destination

Pian dei Schiavaneis - Rifugio Monti Pallidi (1855m)

Turn-by-turn directions

From the parking area, you walk briefly along the edge of the paved road. On the bend, you take the trail (647) that climbs quite steeply and goes through a small park with benches and tables.

You “touch” a very short section of the SS48 and then continue, to the left, along a forest road that enters the woods and reaches the meadow near Roà, at an altitude of 1800 m.

Here, there is a fork in the road. You take the mule track, which does not cross the bridge, but rather continues along the left hand side (right hand side on the way up) of the river Ruf de Antermont, in a rather narrow gorge. The path climbs gently and constantly until it levels out.

The route, always on the forest road, now bends to the right and drops to reach Pian dei Schiavaneis, where you will find the Rifugio Monti Pallidi (1855m).

To return, you follow the same route backwards.

VARIATIONS:

You can comfortably reach the Rifugio Monti Pallidi by car, following SS48 and SS42 in the Passo Sella direction.

Getting there

SS48 delle Dolomiti in the Passo Sella - Passo Pordoi direction, until the hamlet of Pian dei Frataces - Lupo Biano.
