The Valmaggiore trek is a great occasion for spending a day with the family at the feet of the wild Lagorai Range. The very easy forest road leading to the mountain dairy makes the route suitable for families with small children riding in push chair.

The Agritur (farmhouse inn) located at the bottom of the clearing of Valmaggiore is a good rest stop for this brief excursion. Children are always attracted by the sight of the cows, horses and donkeys grazing near the mountain dairy.

Turn-by-turn directions

From Ponte Valmaggiore (1570 m) take the forest road which goes slightly uphill in Valmaggiore (“Agritur” sign). It is a quick, easy road with a magnificent view of the large peaks of Cece, Valmaggiore and Valbona. Go along the side road towards the “Ex Cimitero di Guerra” (former war cemetery), very close to the road to the left.

The beautiful meadows of the clearing will accompany you up to the Valmaggiore mountain dairy where the farmhouse inn is located.

Trace your steps back to the departure point.

Getting there

Take Val di Fiemme national road SS48 up to Predazzo. Go towards the town centre: just before the bridge on Travignolo turn right (indication for Valmaggiore) and proceed along the flat road. Shortly, you will come to a detour to the left (indications for Valmaggiore, Laghi Moregna). Take this path and continue uphill until you reach Ponte Valmaggiore near the mountain dairy of the same name. There are several parking spots where the trail widens.
