Rifugio Negritella offers unrivalled views of the Fassa Dolomites. This is the reason why you should hike the ring route that starts at the bottom of the valley. In the late afternoon, the sun lights the faces of the Monzoni and Marmolada mountains in a unique display of colours.

Author’s recommendation

The Ciampedie plateau is the starting point for numerous hiking and climbing opportunities. But is you have the chance, don’t miss the opportunity to reach the Negritella by mountain bike, along one of the many forest roads that climb from the bottom of the valley. A truly unique experience.

Turn-by-turn directions

Vigo di Fassa - Rifugio Negritella Ring Route.

You take the road that starts right behind the downhill station of the Ciampedie ski lift facility. You follow the road that runs more or less beneath the ski lift and cross some meadows. At about 1540 m asl, you leave the road, which continues straight, and you turn right onto trail 544. You continue to follow trail number 544 which, on a constant incline, allows you to climb rather quickly. Ignoring other minor deviations, you continue this way until you reach the panoramic plateau of Ciampedie. From Rifugio Ciampedie, you descend briefly and, along a forest road, quickly reach Rifugio Negritella.

After stopping at the mountain hut, you follow the level forest road that runs in a south-western direction. You strictly follow the forest road, without taking any of the trails, as it more decisively travels down along the slopes.

You meet the road you took on the way up just above Vigo di Fassa, and from here you return to the starting point.

N.B.: the mountain hut is comfortable to reach from the bottom of the valley using the comfortable Ciampedie cablecar or taking the easy walk coming from the Gardeccia along trail 540.

Getting there

SS48 delle Dolomiti coming from Val di Fiemme, or SS41 coming from Bolzano - Val D’Ega. You can leave your car in the parking area of the “Ciampedie” ski lift facilities. The ski lift facility is connected to the town with an escalator that leads directly to the entrance.

Parking

Vigo di Fassa, parking area of the “Ciampedie” ski lift facilities.
