The Fiavè lake-dwellings are located on the banks of the ancient Lake Carera, which dates back to 2,300 BC. The site is highly interesting from a cultural point of view, especially for the numerous items of daily life and everyday objects belonging to the populations who inhabited the area, that have been discovered here. The lake's transformation into a peat bog have helped keep lake-dwellings and numerous artefacts in good condition, making this unique archaeological site one of the most important in Europe.
The area gets flooded when it is not being dug.
