Mario Brunello, Polish Cello Quartet
The magical first light of lawn illuminates the night sky, a lingering moment in time when the rocks and the listeners begin to warm up for another year of Alba delle Dolomiti on Col Margherita in Val di Fassa. The Polish Cello Quartet - made up of four of the top cellists in the current generation of performers: Tomasz Daroch, Wojciech Fudala, Krzysztof Karpeta and Adam Krzeszowiec - and Mario Brunello's 17th-century MAGGINI cello will work together to seal that profound moment of suspension between darkness and light.
Founded in 2011, the Polish Cello Quartet has won significant awards both for their solo and chamber performances, and has played on the most prestigious stages, collaborating with renowned classical and jazz musicians. In 2019, the quartet received the prestigious Fryderyk Music Award for their second album, which included works by composer Grażyna Bacewicz (Chandos).
During the “symphonic” Alba delle Dolomiti concert programme, extremely rare transcriptions will be performed by the cello ensemble, including Dvorak's cello concerto and the highly renowned Boléro by Ravel.

By car to the San Pellegrino Pass, ascent with the Col Margherita cable car (capacity per hour 1300 people), open for the occasion from 4.00 and then on foot (20 min. walk; difference in altitude 100 m; difficulty E).
