A view of the Dolomite peaks that stretches as far as the eye can see — spanning the Lagorai, the Brenta and the Alps – provides the backdrop for the Netherlands’ greatest and internationally renowned string orchestra, the Amsterdam Sinfonietta. The 22-piece chamber orchestra, with artistic direction from Candida Thompson, performs the great classics in their original style but with modern interpretations.
To make the event even more special, the concert will take place among LandArt installations and feature original arrangements of music by Maurice Ravel, Joseph Kosma, Ludwig van Beethoven and Ralph Vaughan Williams. Known for combining tradition and innovation and for their rich repertoire, which ranges from the classics to newly commissioned compositions, the orchestra has performed at the world’s most prestigious venues, touring Europe, Australia, China and South America.
Maurice Ravel: Blues from the 2nd Violin Sonata (arr. M. Miloradovic)
Joseph Kosma: Autumn Leaves (arr. T. Takemitsu)
Ludwig van Beethoven: String Quartet op.95 “Quartetto Serioso” (version for String Orchestra)
Ralph Vaughan Williams: The Lark Ascending (arr. Martin Gerigk)
