How to arrive
At the roundabout in Tione di Trento (Valli Giudicarie), go straight on towards Brescia. Turn right at the traffic lights and go straight down Via Trento. When you get to a small, porphyry-paved square, cross it and keep to the right along Via dei Monti. At the end of Via dei Monti, follow the signs to Zeller - Le Sole as far as Le Sole (1352m). Park your car at the car park, where the trail starts that ascends to Malga Lodranega (at the beginning of the descent to Breguzzo). If you arrive from Val del Chiese, take the SS237 (Del Caffaro) main road to Breguzzo. Then turn left into Val di Breguzzo. Go straight on and when you get to Limes, turn right at Bar Limes. The road goes up as far as Le Sole at 1352m. Where the road begins to flatten out, park your car on the right in the large car park. The trail to Malga Lodranega starts on the left.
After recent snowfalls, it is advisable to arrive from Breguzzo, since the road up to Tione is not always clear of snow.
The peaceful trail up to Malga Lodranega goes along the forest track, which starts at Le Sole, above Tione di Trento and Breguzzo, and continues as far as this alpine dairy situated on the slopes of Monte Cengledino, the peak that separates Val di Breguzzo from Val Rendena. This very easy route is suitable for beginners and families.
Le Sole (1352m), Malga Lodranega (1617m).
From Le Sole, take the trail that ascends eastwards to Malga Lodranega. At the crossroads, there is a signpost with directions to this alpine dairy. The trail starts just before the beginning of the descent to Breguzzo.
The trail goes up a slope, not too steep, into a wood. After two consecutive hairpin bends, you get to a fork: Malga Lodranega - Malga Cengledino, where a sign indicates no access to motor vehicles.
Go straight on, staying on the mountainside overlooking Val del Chiese and Val di Breguzzo. Signposted at the fork.
The trail mainly passes through a wood but along some stretches you can enjoy views over the two valleys extending to the south.
The last stretch of the trail comes out into the meadow of Malga Lodranega (1617m), which stands further up on the right. Cut across the meadow to get to this alpine dairy.
The return route follows the same trail back.
Well-trained hikers can climb up to the summit of Monte Cengledino, situated about 220m higher up, and reached in about 1 hour.
This trail is always well-groomed, as it is very popular, even when it snows.
