Lavazè Pass Hike
A relaxing hike in a beautiful forest of silver firs and Swiss pines, suitable for individuals who are not particularly fit as well
Nonetheless, arriving at Malga Cugola Alta is very satisfying, since it allows visitors to enjoy an unexpected and remarkable view of all of the Val di Fiemme as well as of the majestic mountains of the Lagorai range. The mountain dairy does not have a keeper. It is open to the public and visitors can both shelter inside and - if they feel like it - fix themselves something to eat. After parking your car, go to the back of the hotel, put on your snowshoes and climb down along the left side of the ski slope. At about 1900 m height keep an eye out for a sign on a tree on the left-hand side of the slope indicating path no. 4 for Malga Cugola. Follow the signs on the trees, which will take you under a chairlift after a short distance. Continue walking across the gorgeous forest of Swiss pines. The path will take you through a couloir. After moving slightly downhill, you will reach the remains of an old barn near the Cugola Pass. A slight downhill climb on the other slope (south) - which is sometimes free of snow - will quickly take you to the Alpine farmhouse of Malga Cugola Alta.
Use the same itinerary or, if you feel like walking a bit further, go back to the Cugola Pass and take the path on the left (no. k) down to Malga Cugola Bassa (1806 m). From there, take the level forest path on the right to the chair-lift downhill station. Follow the edge of the slope on the left and climb back up freely until you reach the Oclini Pass.
