Follow on the footsteps of "White Fang" to explore the wilderness of the Lagorai

There are a myriad of outings that can be enjoyed in the solitary quiet of Lagorai's mountains and which have become a classic. These include excursions to Piccolo Col Bricon and Litegosa as well as the less popular Busa Grana, which is both better concealed and more accessible than many others.

Leave the road at the bottom of the valley at Masi di Cavalese and follow the signs to Salanzada. Then, keep making your way across the solitary expanse of Val Moena and park your car at Ponte Crosette, which stands at approximately 1170 m.
Here, the valley - with its endless forests and silences - brings to mind the great northern expanses of Canada, imbuing visitors with a spirit of adventure the minute they put on their skis.
Follow the road south and you will soon reach Ponte Brustolaie. Here, the itinerary splits into two. Turn left to go to Val Moena, or turn right to continue towards Val Forame, climbing upwards through Casera delle Capre at 1610 m. Then, follow the forest road to the idyllically-positioned Malga Forame. Located at 1909 m, it is surrounded by a striking fairytale landscape and is overlooked by solitary peaks.
At this point, the itinerary requires some skill and intuition to follow a logical, safe path. Keep going south towards the two-pronged west peak of Busa Grana on the horizon. Leave the magic of Baito dei Manzi behind on your left and keep going along the folds of the crest that climbs up the centre of the valley until you reach a small plateau at 2300 m.
At this point, a rocky band will bar your way to the peak. Carefully climb over it at the base, travelling left for a short distance before turning right. Keep going until you reach the suspended ledge and the peak that stands at 2451 m.
Two words to describe the view from here? "Untamed" and "outstanding"!
Now, all you have to do is take a little care and enjoy the long, gorgeous and varied climb down using the same itinerary to reach your car!
