The Avez del Prinzep nature trail

<p>It runs through the pastures and woods of Malga Laghetto, at the upper head of the Rio Torto valley, between Lavarone and Luserna. It is a trail that leads to the discovery of the 'giants of the forest', imposing white firs that frame a sheet of water (biotope) on which, in spring, water lilies and nannuferi bloom. It also allows a visit to what remains of the Avéz del Prinzep, the tallest and longest silver fir in Europe.</p>

<p>The walk is easy and suitable for everyone. The environment in which it takes place is typically alpine. Of great interest is the forest of silver firs, known for their impressiveness, the most sought-after of which was the Avez del Prinzep, 54 m high and more than 250 years old, which unfortunately fell on 12 November 2017 following a windstorm. Illustrative panels tell about the naturalistic peculiarities of the place, the coniferous forest and the ecosystem that characterises the biotope.</p>
