Soraga di Fassa - Tamion
Excursion from Soraga to Tamion, a small village 4 km from Vigo. It is also reached by Strada de Tamion having left the main road to Costalunga Pass. It is a typical Ladin borough from the past, in a great sunny position and an incredible view of the Sassolungo group, Buffaure and Cima Dodici.
From the centre of Soraga turn into Strada del Cioch. Continue along Strada de Barbida until you arrive at the quarter bearing the same name. Once you are in front of the little church, take the narrow street on the right, then turn right again, pass under an archway and turn left towards the mountain. Walk straight on for approximately 150 metres and then turn right. Go past the steep crag made of "Val Gardena" sandstone, whose red formations can be seen below in the gorge. The slope is very steep and difficult, but the part further up is sheltered by trees and climbing is therefore not so hard. Here and there you can see little clearings, covered by meadows. They become increasingly wide until you come out into open space and finally reach the plain near a little fir and larch wood. Here you absolutely have to take a break: to have a little rest and to look around. A small rise in the ground on the left is the perfect position for admiring the fantastic view to the south with Soraga and Moena and to the north with Tamion above, surrounded by grassland and crowned by the Larséch crags. Continue straight on through meadows bathed in sunlight. Some winding bends help to climb the slope. An old barn shows that you have arrived at Tamion. On the way towards the centre of the hamlet you will find two fountains where you can freshen up. To go back it is advisable to follow the same route in the opposite direction.
