Between the towns of Grauno and Capriana on a natural botanical trail.
A walk in the wood on a natural botanical trail with a strong focus on the nature of the woods and the environment around.
This itinerary starts from the little town Grauno, known for its ancient rite to celebrate Carnival which climaxes with the fire of a big pine, and reaches Capriana, the first town of the valley Val di Fiemme. Before going deep into the wood, the town Grauno deserves a visit. There you can get lost in its steep narrow streets named “frone” and its big historical fountains in the forecourts among the houses. Grauno is the native town of Father Atanasio Cristofori (1885 - 1961), the Father of the herbs. He published several books on the medical use of wild plants. Along this trail and close to the town you can find some information panels dedicated to him. The trail starting behind the San Martino church is a flat forest road, which goes through woods of pines and chestnut trees. On this way you can find some panoramic views of the valley, which deserve a short stop. This road becomes a path for a little stretch and then again a mule track, which takes to the town Capriana surrounded by lawns rich in biodiversity.
