22 - Mezzomonte Geomorphological Trail

The withdrawal of the glacial mass that covered the Adige valley in ancient times caused incisions and moraine deposits on the underlying layers. The Mezzomonte Geomorphological Path takes us to some of these signs, in particular the Cason glacial potholes and the Noz moraine deposit.

The route starts from the village of Mezzomonte, on the middle valley of the Rio Cavallo, touches the rocky spur of the Cason below which the glacial potholes are found, then descends to Mezzomonte di sotto and follows the road to the Ondertol farmstead. Just beyond the village, the large Noz moraine deposit can be seen on the right. The itinerary continues as far as the Rio Cavallo stream, at which the wide break walls are visible, bearing the striations left by the glacial mass.
