Monte Albano equipped route
Access: from Mori town centre, passing through the Montalbano sanctuary, through a steep road and a pine forest grown between distinctive limestone boulders (a total of 25 minutes on foot); car park in Piazza Malfatti or Piazza del Mercato. Journey time: from 2 to 4 hours for the ascent - 40 min to return through a path or an easy route equipped with fixed ropes to the Montalbano Sanctuary. This equipped route is considered one of the most difficult in the whole of the Alps, though quite appealing, thanks to the surrounding natural environment and the varied path. It is challenging because it climbs a vertical, sometimes overhanging face with minimal use of artificial means. In the most difficult parts the exposure is such that it becomes real climbing. The necessary equipment for rock climbing and an adequate physical and technical training are highly recommended. The route - SAT No. 675 - follows the face's natural features through cracks, dihedrals and chimneys, with a length of 550 metres and a difference in height of 300 metres. It can be accessed all year long, thanks to a south-eastern exposure and the low altitude.
