On the Trails of the Great War
An easy and spectacular hike along the paths of the Great War, in the shadow of Mount Cauriol
From the refuge of the same name to an altitude of 1587 metres, a steep and strenuous climb (waymarked 349), among ruins and vertical meadows, goes up to Forcella Coldosè (2182 m), which looks across a splendid amphitheatre dotted with some of most beautiful little lakes in the whole of the Lagorai chain. From the pass the path descends Lago delle Trote lake (2110 m); a short detour southwards takes you in a few minutes to Lago Brutto lakeand retracing your steps, you enter path no. 339 bearing right, which passes Lago di Moregna lake and then descends to the grass plateau and Malga di Valmaggiore (1620 m). From here an unpaved road descends to Predazzo.
