At the foot of the Sassolungo group - from Col Rodella to Rifugio Antermoia
A spectacular trekking in the heart of the Fassa Dolomites
From Col Rodella you take path 557, also known as the "Friedrich August Weg", in honour of the King of Saxony, a keen botanist. On an easy almost horizontal path, you can walk to the Grohmann point, the Innerkofler point, the Dente del Sassolungo and Sasso Piatto, and come out onto the wide grass saddle of Giogo di Fassa, where there is Rifugio Sasso Piatto. Here you continue along the level ridge of Siusi, which then descends on the side of Val Duron to the pass of the same name. Some saddles along the route provide superb views also of the opposite side, towards Alpe di Siusi and the Odle. From Passo Duron you go down the valley of the same name and then, on the right, take path 555 leading to Passo Ciaregole (2282 m). After crossing the pass, the path joins waymark 580, which bears right to climb the steep bends towards Passo di Dona (2516 m) and, following the south flank of Cima di Dona, you reach Rifugio Antermoia (2496 m). Here we are in the heart of the Fassa Dolomites, which offer an attractive prospect of the east face of the Catinaccio d'Antermoia.
