Museo Geologico delle Dolomiti
The geological and mineral legacy of the Dolomites.
It is no coincidence the Civic Museum of Geology was established in Predazzo in the Eastern Dolomites, an area well-renowned amongst 20th century researches, and known as the geological garden of the Alps. The Museum supports and promotes the local wealth of geological and mineral samples by featuring an interactive teaching laboratory as well as guided tours, which help visitors discover this fascinating world. Such a world actually tells the tale of the Earth and the Dolomites - along the Doss Capèl geological and Magola trails, as well as on the Monti Monzoni and the mines of Bedovina.
Over the years, its collections have been become wider and at the same time more specific, aiming at promoting the area's internationally renowned geological heritage in all its extraordinary richness. The vast majority of the museum's current collections feature local geological samples. In particular, special mention goes to its palaeontologic materials, which include several reptile and amphibian footprints.
