Contemporary Art Museum Cavalese
Art at the service of the alpine area
The Museum of Contemporary Art of Cavalese, located in the historical centre and run by the Municipality of Cavalese, was founded in 2001 in order to host a permanent collection of artworks donated by a passionate collector. Among these pieces of art there was a very important section dedicated to the great artist Bruno Munari.
In 2008 the owner of the collection moved, taking it with him. Since then, the expositive rooms of the museum, located in the historical Palazzo Rizzoli, host important exhibitions and cultural events whose aim is to give value to the Alpine region by trying to create a balance between two needs: keep traditions up and move forward in the process of innovation.
In order to pursue this aim, the museum hosts both collective and personal exhibitions during the whole year. Thanks to donations by the artists who alternated during the various exhibitions, a new permanent collection was created: it is an heterogeneous itinerary that retraces the museum history, bringing it to life through projects, activities and people who experienced and frequented it.
