Two days in the heart of a pristine natural environment and lots of fun for the family. Discover Lake Tovel in the Adamello Brenta Nature Park; exciting games and adventure on the Predaia Plateau

Proceed by car from the centre of Tuenno along the provincial road to Lake Tovel, which lies in the heart of the Adamello Brenta Nature Park. The Tovel Valley stretches for about 17 Km into the Brenta Dolomite mountain range, now a UNESCO world heritage site. At the centre of the valley lies the picturesque Lake Tovel, which is famous for the fact that up until the 1960s its waters naturally turned red every year. Today the lake offers outstandingly beautiful scenery, which can be enjoyed by taking the walk around its shores. Most of the walk is also accessible for pushchairs. For lunch, stop off at the "Lago Rosso" restaurant on the lakeside for a quick bite to eat or to sample the local cuisine.

The road from the centre of Tuenno to the lake is closed to traffic during the summer at "Capriolo", however a convenient shuttle bus service is provided. Another possibility, which is certainly more attractive for those who love hiking, is to walk to the lake along the "Sentiero delle Glare" (walking time: 2 h roughly) which starts out from an area strewn with boulders and mountain debris.

One last tip: stop off at the Casa del Parco "Lago Rosso" visitors' centre and find out about the variety of natural features in the area. Here you can find gadgets, information on Val di Non and multimedia installations providing information on the Park, as well as on the project that re-introduced bears into the area a few years ago. Younger children will be able to see and learn about animals in the park.

Return to Tuenno in the evening where you can stay at the Albergo Tuenno, which offers comfortable newly-furnished rooms where, as well as dinner you can sample delicious traditionally made ice-cream made by Lorenzo, a passionate ice-cream maker ...
If you are looking for relaxation, Agritur Leita has a brand new spa centre with Jacuzzi you can book.

Day Two

Things to see

The following morning, after a hearty breakfast, your journey continues on to Predaia, a broad, green terrace above the Brenta Dolomites.
From Tuenno proceed towards Cles, which provides plenty of shopping opportunities, then on to Dermulo where you take the SP 13 road, which leads up to the Predaia Plateau.

For families with children the day could continue at the "Sores Park", a fun-packed adventure park comprising a series of acrobatic routes running entirely through the treetops of the Rifugio "Sores" pinewood. The refuge also offers excellent traditional fare. For those who love pristine nature and beautiful countryside, we heartily recommend a hike through the meadows above the "Predaia Ai Todés ci" refuge (1396 m), an ideal place to relax and admire the beautiful landscapes and the picturesque vast meadows alternating with conifer woods. You can return along the SS 43 main road from Taio and pass through the village of Tres. Here you can stop at the well-stocked Azienda "Lucia Maria Bistro" craft and farm shop, the only place in the valley that produces an excellent cider, as well as fresh apple juice and a range of apple cider vinegars (tastings, lunch and dinner must be booked in advance).
