Tradition/Translation: the Ladin Carnival - Canazei
Masks of the Ladin Carnival: roots of the popular culture of Fassa.
Interesting evening dedicated to the Ladin Carnival and its rituals, by Cesare Poppi, Professor of anthropology and museography and author of the book "Fassa's Carnival . A traditional rite inside modernity". Poppi also curated all stages of the Ladin Museum foundation. Thanks to his guidance, we'll dive into the most important profane festive cycle of the year, which puts its roots in the mists of time, when life in Fassa was linked to the rhythm of the seasons and the end of winter was celebrated with atavistic rites. Moreover, local artist Claus Soraperra will speak about what the Ladin identity involves.
At 9 p.m. in Canazei main square. In case of bad weather at the Cinema Teatro Marmolada. Free admission.
