The woodsman's call
Guided evening visit to the sawmill of Meida, a detached section of Museo Ladino di Fassa
Programme: an evening walk escorted by a bizarre woodsman, who will reveal us the secrets and fun facts of his work, till reaching the sawmill of Meida, open and available for visits on this occasion. "L Segat" is one of the interesting detached section of the Ladin Museum of Val di Fassa. It is an exhibition dedicated to wood and wood processing. Seen the importance of this ecosystem for the local people during the centuries, the exhibition focuses on the local essence and on the main jobs linked to the processing of the wood: lumberjack, woodworker and carpenter. Each role is illustrated through texts, historic images, ethnographic objects and films by the Ladin Cultural Institute. Among these, the collection "Bepo e Jan Cherlo" from Moena, carpenter family that has preserved with passion tools that would be impossible to find today.
