"The Angels of the Snow" celebrate their 60th Anniversary!
The men of the slopes and mountain rescue from the Moena Training Centre of the Police tell their story rich in values and professionality
The “Mountain Safety and Rescue” Service of the Police celebrates this year its 60th anniversary. In fact its birth dates back to the Winter Olympic Games in Cortina in 1956, when 100 policemen were employed in maintaining the order and public safety, but also in supplying assistance on the occasion of this important event. The training of the employees was commissioned to the Police Training Centre of Moena.
On 6th August we celebrate the “Snow’s Angels”, as defined by a journalist from Rome some years ago.The programme is rich in activities: in the square in the afternoon (from about 4.30 p.m. to 7.00 p.m.)the policemen will present the activity of the rescue on the ski slopes, the necessary equipment and he techniques. At 9.00 p.m., then, projection of a short movie of 30 minutes, telling the story of the Police mountain rescue since 1956, thanks to the historical pictures from the Istituto Luce and RAI Teche.
