Downhill and super giant slalom on the slope La VolatA on San Pellegrino Pass
From 18th to 27th February 2019, Val di Fassa will host the FIS Alpine Junior World Ski Championships. The competitions are preceded by two test-events that will take place on La VolatA, top track in the Passo San Pellegrino ski area. In January, from Tuesday, 15 till Friday, 18 this thrilling slope will be stage of 3 races of the Women European Cup (all speed events, two downhill and a Super Giant slalom), while waiting to host the big event together with the slope Aloch in Pozza di Fassa. The best European young athletes will challenge on this demanding slope at Col Margherita on a track 2,300 long, with 630 metres of altitude gap and a maximum incline of 57% that candidates as a future race track for top athletes.
Thanks to its inclines and the perfection of its slope, the San Pellegrino ski area is one of the most appreciated locations by the Italian National Ski Team to refine their training in view of the World Cup as well as by other teams such as USA (even Lindsey Vonn was there last January), Sweden, Finland, Slovenia, Slovakia and Germany.
The European Cup is organised by the FIS (International Ski Federation) and, in terms of importance, it is second only to the World Ski Cup.
