Saint Nicholas comes in Fai della Paganella
Celebrating our patron saint with the strozega.
At Saint Nicholas, Fai has fun. The whole village celebrates its patron saint with the strozega.
The streets resound with the sound of the bandoni, the tin cans dragged and beaten with sticks by the children to summon the Saint.
In the night, riding a donkey, Saint Nicholas arrives laden with gifts: tangerines, bagigi - peanuts to be shelled - and candies. An ancient alpine tradition to be shared with the people of Fai together with a warm cup of mulled wine.
We set off with the strozega dei bandoni in Piazza San Rocco, in Cortalta, at 18.45 pm. Our destination is the square in front of the Palazzetto, where Saint Nicholas and his donkey arrive at around 8 pm.
