Pizolada delle Dolomiti
Sport, freedom, pure and unspoilt nature: the historical mountaineering ski competition "Pizolada delle Dolomiti" is back
The "Pizolada delle Dolomiti" is one of the first and most representative ski-mountaineering competitions in the Alps (its first edition was held in 1973). The name "Pizolada" derives from the Ladin words "se pizolar" that means "to slide sweetly on the soft snow by ski or sledge". And this is the main aim of this competition: bring the skiers in touch with an amazing world made of nature, snow and energy.
This historical competition is now one of the most important in Italy, a not-to-miss appointment for ski-mountaineering addicted. A breath-taking challenge towards Cima Bocche at 2,750 metres. The participants will choose betweent two tracks: athtletes will take on five steep ascends and five descends for a total length of 13.7 km and a 1,278 m of drop (classic itinerary). Hikers will cover an easier track together with the mountain guides, always towards Col Margherita. Two different exciting challenges that can be seen by the public from the ski runs of San Pellegrino Pass. The starting line of both tracks is set by the cable car Col Margherita.
