The small town of Ossana is waiting for you from November 29th 2019 to January 6th 2020 to take you through the hidden corners of this town as you discover almost 1000 NATIVITY SCENES. The SAN MICHELE CASTLE in Ossana is a fantastic addition to this event. The castle was officially open to the public on July 2014 and it is now also possible to visit this medieval castle during the winter months. Follow the magical setting that will take you right within the castle walls and discover the special nativity scene: it tells the touching story of the events that actually took place on Christmas during World War I. You can't miss a visit to the special nativity scene that was created to mark the 60th anniversary of the tragic airplane crash that occurred on December 22nd 1956 on Mount Giner at a height of 2.600 meters in the Ossana area. You can find this special nativity scene at the «Mas dei Voltolini».

FOLLOW THE RED CORD!

This year the town of Ossana will celebrate the 20th edition of this event and its 100 nativity scenes, which has now become a can't miss event for locals, tourists and visitors in Val di Sole and in the surrounding areas. All of the 1000 nativity scenes in the town can be found by following the RED CORD with festive decorations and ANCIENT OIL LAMPS that illuminate the entire itinerary. All of the nativity scenes have been handmade by volunteer associations, groups, schools, families, artists and local citizens of Ossana and the entire valley. This is a unique opportunity to admire all of these creatively designed nativity scenes that have been made using unusual and sometimes unimaginable materials (for example fabric, wood, seeds or corn leafs). Each nativity scene is unique and they show just how each and every person has their own unique way of expressing what Christmas means to them, in the hopes that all visitors will appreciate and enjoy this special event.
