The Rovereto Festival will be staged in theatres, gardens, museums and squares of the city with important names of international contemporary dance. The programme also supports young Italian productions.
Oriente Occidente Dance Festival | 43rd edition
Oriente Occidente Dance Festival will return to Rovereto also this year with the second chapter dedicated to the theme Mediterranei.
The project will continue the journey into the plural Mediterraneans and the gaze will be turned to the social and climatic emergencies of this geographic, political and enlarged cultural space that continues to have centrality within the world balances. Migrations, social justice, women’s rights and climatic catastrophes are themes to which dance artists are overwhelmingly paying attention.
The big names of international dance on stage in Rovereto
Some names, among others, will be protagonists of the artistic programme. Marcos Morau, by now among the most recognised choreographers in the world and an artist associated with Oriente Occidente, comes back to Rovereto to present for the first time in Italy his new work currently in production.
Sharon Fridman, an artist of Israeli origin, often at the Festival also with participatory projects, arrives this time with a “mixable duet”, a duet with one performer with a disability and one without.
Dorothée Munyaneza, a British-Rwandan choreographer, dancer and singer will instead arrive for the first time at Oriente Occidente with a work investigating the relations between violence, gender and race.
