Mascherèda Fascèna
Carnival theatre performance in Ladin language
The so called "mascherèdes" are farces in the Ladin language with funny cheeky characters dressed up in traditional Carnival costumes. At the end of each performance, when general chaos reigns, characters split up into two groups: good-looking masks and ugly masks. "Bal del Barbier" - literarily "barber’s dance" - represents the humorous climax of the show and it is followed by dancing that usually lasts till late night. These evocative shows is staged at 8.00 p.m. in the disused primary school of Penìa under the direction of the group "Grop de la Mèscres de Dèlba e Penìa".
