Intrecci di seta (Silk twists)

After the success gained at the Palazzo Assessorile in Cles, the exhibition Intrecci di seta. La manifattura Viesi di Cles (Silk Twists. The Viesi's factory in Cles) can be visited in Trento at the Museo Diocesano Tridentino from 16 May 2019.

It is an unusual and curious exhibition, which gives back to the community of Trentino a significant piece of its recent history. The exhibition traces the story of the company of Viesi's family, which was specialized in the production of fabrics for the Church and the manufacture of liturgical vestments. During the course of its activity, which dates from the mid-nineteenth century to the eighties of the twentieth century, the Viesi Company has gone through two world wars and experienced numerous transformations. The exhibition accurately reconstructs this story and, using period documents, photographs, curious artefacts and multicoloured fabrics, brings a fascinating and little-known story to the attention of the public.

The exhibition is organized by the Museo Diocesano Tridentino in collaboration with the Municipality of Cles and the Tridentine Diocesan Archive.
