Ice hockey: Fassa Falcons vs HC Gherdëina
Ice hockey championship of the Alps Hockey League, the league formed by teams from the Austrian, Italian and Slovenian federations
Follow the home games of the Fassa Falcons, the ice hockey team that has been successfully playing in the Alps Hockey League for years. The "biancoazzurri", led by captain Martin Castlunger, take on the South Tyrolean club HC Gherdëina (Val Gardena) this afternoon. Admission: € 12 adults; € 5 children up to 12 years old. Match kicks off at 3 p.m. at the "G. Scola" Stadium in Alba di Canazei.
As per tradition, the season includes a first and a second round with 30 matches for each of the 16 teams in play (7 from Italy, 7 from Austria and 2 from Slovenia). At the end of this round, the top 6 teams, already qualified for the playoffs, will go on to form the Master Round, receiving bonus points based on the regular season standings and facing each other twice more to obtain the best starting position in the quarter-finals of the playoffs, scheduled from 5 March. The remaining 10 teams will be divided into two qualifying rounds and, after a round robin, the top two teams from each group will face each other in a best-of-three series (pre-playoffs, 27 February to 2 March) for the two remaining places on the playoff table.
