An easy hike ideal for everyone, along country roads and ancient mule trails. Canale di Tenno is one of the most
beautiful medieval villages of Italy and Lake Tenno is a natural gem, wedged in the woods like a diamond! The atmosphere is relaxing and fascinating. The olive groves and vineyards which surround the historical centres frame Lake Garda just like a post card.
We walk across the streets of the village of Tenno, leaving the majestic castle behind us and briefly we will reach its surrounding countryside, walking along terraced vineyards along an easy mule track. This joins up Tenno to Ville del Monte and to Canale di Tenno, magnificent medieval historic centre, with its alley ways, gateways and doors and taverns, where we can make a short visit and sip a good coffee. Once we leave Canale, in roughly 20 mins we reach Lake Tenno (570m), splendid mirror of turquoise blue water wedged in among the wooded slopes. Impossible not to stop for a cool dip and a few photos! We back track briefly up to Canale and from here we reach Calvola, with its fountains of clear water.
We head back to Tenno along an old, downhill mule track which runs through the countryside and which leads us directly to our starting point.
