Great Carnival Party
Grand carnival parade with many masks along Strada Rezia, followed by a party with music, dancing and typical gastronomic delights
Cheerfulness, jokes, dancing and lots of delicacies. In the Val di Fassa, the last day of "Carnascèr" is an explosion of celebration in the village squares. Here, carnival, for centuries, has represented the happiest time of the year, awaited with joy by the elderly, who could become children again amidst jokes and witty banter, also counting on the "cover" of the "faceres" wooden masks of exceptional workmanship now made by Fassa's most famous sculptors, and above all by the young people, who between February and March would get married. That taste for a joke and the pleasure of dressing up in the past can still be found today in the various events of the "Carnascèr Ladin", still considered in Val di Fassa as the most beautiful time of the year.
In Vigo, the celebration starts at 2.30 p.m. with the parade of themed allegorical floats prepared by voluntary associations, by the "Coscritti", who will be 18 years old in 2024, and by school groups. Between two wings of the crowd, the parade will cross "Strada Rezia" before arriving at the square "Piaz J.B. Massar", followed by all the masqueraders. Here, many typical sweet and savoury specialities will be served. The party, for the older ones, continues into the evening in the square "Piaz de Vich" with music by DJ Fufu.
