Geotourism in the Dolomites: Journey to a World Heritage Site
Meeting with the geologist Emiliano Oddone, co-founder of "Dolomiti Project" that focuses on the valorization of geo-diversity
The geologist Emiliano Oddone, founder of "Dolomiti Project", presents some insights about the peculiarities of the UNESCO peaks. Since June 2009, these mountains have belonged to the 50 most beautiful landscapes in Europe and to the 201 one throughout the world, due to their undeniable aesthetic value, their unique geological composition and the wealth of flora with over 2400 different species. UNESCO awarded this important acknowledgement also to the ranges of Marmolada and Catinaccio-Latemar, mainly found on Val di Fassa’s terrain, for a total stretch of 142,000 hectares, distribuited between the provinces of Trento, Bolzano, Belluno, Udine and Pordenone.
At 9.00 p.m. at the main square in Campitello (Piaz de Ciampedel). In case of bad weather at the parish theater. Only in Italian language.
