After more than ten years playing together, Alma Swing is now the embodiment of the European hot jazz tradition, in which the Parisian-American swing of the Thirties merges with timeless folklore. With a retro profile and a traditional organic, acoustic sound, the ensemble adds its own distinct personality to the music which was given international renown by the legendary Django Reinhardt. Coming to prominence in 2005 in the "Porsche Live - Youth and Jazz" competition in front of a panel chaired by Paolo Fresu, under the patronage of Musica Jazz magazine (when they participated in the production of a live CD in May 2006 which sold more than 25,000 copies). Today, Alma Swing boasts illustrious collaborations, an important discography and continuous participation in festivals and exhibitions throughout Italy and Europe.
The group presents its new project by fusing far more distant flavors in Parisian hot jazz. In this "Gypsy Wanderlust" (further embellished, in the recording of the album, by the extraordinary participation of jazz guitarist Franco Cerri), the quartet offers a repertoire based mainly on their own compositions inspired by the literary suggestions of "Around the world in 80 days ".
